In response to the wildfires, the Alameda County RCD has compiled a list of resources to help farmers and ranchers recover from wildfires. We hope this information and support will help all of those affected to recover from the wildfires as quickly and safely as possible.

Hello Everyone –

We have arranged for three in person workshops for Ranchers.  We intend to have representatives from all of the involved agencies present to field and answer questions about the fire situations so please come.  Two are in person and one is virtual – for the in person meetings –  PLEASE WEAR YOUR FACE COVERINGS and HONOR SOCIAL DISTANCING as all parties present will be required to do so.

The three workshops are as follows:

September 9th at 11:00 a.m. – In person

Where: Harvey Bear County Park

Directions: Just head to the Harvey Bear County Park in San Martin on San Martin Ave., do not go in the main gate but go past it and you will see a gravel driveway that goes back to the barn.  Take that gravel drive.  Thanks to Justin Fields and Brent Kirk for setting this up.

September 14th at 6:30 p.m. – In person

Costa Alameda Cattlemen’s Association will be having a meeting.

Where: Pleasanton Fairgrounds

RSVP to Kim at 925-519-9017 if you want to attend this meeting.

Hosted by Theresa Becchetti – Stanislaus/San Joaquin Livestock Advisor with UCCE. NRCS, FSA, Agricultural Commissioner, and UCCE will be present.

Where: Laird Park, on Grayson Road along San Joaquin River, east of Hwy 33

Also, below are 4 documents that inform on some assistance available to ranchers that will be discussed.

Lastly, this link to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is also helpful.  It lists many resources for things to do after a fire and programs that they offer for restoration.  At the top there are clicks on how to contact your local NRCS folks.

I hope it finds you well.

Thanks Everyone,

Joe Deviney, Santa Clara County 408-918-4646
